Foundation Day Celebration

Though, SAHAS (Spreading Aid Health And Smile) Foundation was registered on 3rd June 2021, we have completed three years of operation on March 31, 2025, of extending a helping hand to those in need and have become eligible for CSR activities.
To celebrate the anniversary of our Foundation Day, we chose the first Sunday of June, which was June 01, 2025. As has been rightly said, “Students are the future of our nation”; and as SAHAS has been sponsoring the education of needy but academically inclined children, we felt it right to have students recite poems, sing songs or speak on topics which interested them. So, we invited them, along with their families, to the Bandra East Community Centre [BECC].
We were pleasantly surprised. Not only did the students excel themselves in elocution and recitation, they also displayed creative talent in arts including painting and craft. Students were presented with tokens of appreciation for actively participating in the celebration and making it a grand success.
Trustees and members of Sahas Foundation - Ms Archana Thombre, Mr Ravindra Thombre, Mr Ashok Naidu, Mr Sudhakar Sawant and Mr Debjit Kar - explained the purpose of forming the organization and also spoke of the various activities carried out by the foundation. Students were informed that a library was to be started at the Community Centre and were encouraged to take advantage of the same and also bring their friends along. Students were guided on various topics including the importance of education, tips for public speaking, improving diction among other things. They were also reminded how important it was to acquire knowledge which is possible only when one inculcates the habit of reading. Ms Sucharita Sarker, extended vote of thanks to Mr Tony Furtado of BECC appreciating all the help and support received from them. Mr Tony Furtado, the Coordinator of the Centre also exhorted students to concentrate on studies.
The program ended with lunch. As Benjamin Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interests”. Following those sentiments, SAHAS thought that interacting with students, giving them the opportunity to express ideas, appreciating their creative geniuses in art, at the same time imparting useful tips was indeed the best way of commemorating the Foundation Day.
